Monday's list: the week of April 8

In light of recent efforts to grow my blog and turn it into something more personal, I have been brainstorming and trying to find ideas for weekly features that are both fun for myself and the reader. Ideas are not hard to come by but planting them into posts and watching them grow into flowers is a bit of a challenge. Change is healthy, I need to remind myself of this.

When I was younger I had a passion for listography. I would spend hours writing my own lists and coloring in the leftover space with smelly markers. I had lists of my favorite chocolate bars, who I wanted to kiss, places I wanted to travel and even dog names so I'd be prepared if my birthday wishes ever came true. Through list-making, you can form your own autobiography and have fun learning about yourself. Like other childhood hobbies, I lost the habit of making lists as I got older.

When I was pulling out ideas for weekly features, I thought about my stale love for list-making. What better place than here on my blog to rekindle this hobby?  Every Monday I will post a new list with my answers and I hope you'll join in!

  1. Old time Banjo
  2. Making Terrariums
  3. How to press and dry flowers, weeds and leaves
  4. How to keep my hair from tumbling into knots
  5. Real blues on the guitar
  6. Courage to read my poetry aloud or sing my own songs
  7. How to rise before 9am without needing a nap in the afternoon
  8. The art of belly dancing
  9. Master all of the recipes my mom taught me to love while growing up
  10. How to have one house in the country, one in the city & one by the sea (the dream..)

Include your own answers to the list in a comment and/or share an idea for next Monday's list. I look forward to hearing what you want to learn!

Monday's list is a weekly feature. This is the inaugural post.

  1. That's such a wonderful list! I used to be the same, lists lists lists. They always really helped me so I started making them again recently but they haven't helped so far...
If you find out how to keep hair from knotting, please let me know! Old time banjo? So awesome! I've got a ukulele and love playing it. Just for myself though...

  3. Making terrariums is definitely something I want to learn. I want to learn to cook perfectly too, to make delicious meals, for myself and the ones I love. I'd like to be more confident and less depressed, even it's not that terrible yet ^^. And to sew too ! I want to sew perfect midi skirts, like in the 50's you know, with heavy beautiful fabric. And yes, just skirts !

    See U !

  9. I used to be just the same, with a notebook full of lists. Present ideas, places to go, perfect fashion items I wanted.

There are many many things I want to learn, but mostly Japanese and horse riding.

I actually have a really old banjo. It's literally 100 years old, but I am rubbish at playing it. Family heirloom from a great grandfather who was a professional banjo player but I am so bad at tuning! It's good fun though and I think banjos are beautiful. You should definitely go for it.

    1. What a beautiful family heirloom to have -- I wish I had a family member with an ancient banjo! I bet it is gorgeous!

My boyfriend ends up tuning my banjo most of the time heh heh.. and I wish I could learn another language but it seems impossible for me ✿

  10. Love the idea of these posts! Please learn to play real blues on the guitar! I have always been in love with that sound, I'll live vicariously through you! ;) I also want to press flowers more, it's something I used to do as a child with my mom, it's so lovely. Looking forward to more of these, dear!
