mint in the kettle,

The moon is round like a banjo,  and if I'm quiet enough, I can hear cars whistling in a country mile. The ground is dry, like the seat on a summer bus, and all thoughts of frost dissolve into the air.  It's the third of January, and my feet have been kissing sidewalks without the need for mittens or planes. To put it in a nutshell: The world is wearing a glossy halo, and winter's weather feels more like spring.

As the colored pine tree continues to make camp in our living room, I am reminded of the Christmas air, and the jubilant days spent in December.  I do admire Christmas,  the lights, the feasts, the companions, the mornings, and the eves. However, I do believe Christmas is a mixed blessing.

If you've ever ate too many sugar cookies, hated goodbyes, or felt pieces of you were missing while cleaning up rosy bows and wrapping paper, then you'll understand the bittersweet blessings.  Christmas is a candle that kindles our spirits, but put me to sleep in a cotton bed, with my lover's roof over my head, and I'll wake up knowing Christmas / without having to say goodbye.

The day of Christmas was lovely though. My presents were flawless, and decorated in love and kinship. An auto harp, banjo lessons, and my family beside the fire place, I could not ask for more. (except for maybe, my brother Sam to be here. We miss you. )

Happy New Year beautiful creatures.

Lovely combination of blue and red, with the layering of long lace over short. However, it's your similes that really transport me: 'the moon...like a banjo'. Also your descriptions of spending time with family resonates very much. Beautiful.

I am admiring your clover crown. It brings back memories when I was a child spending my summers in a country side, sitting in a meadow and making flower crowns out of daisies and honeysuckles :)
And your outfit is pure beauty- so so so pretty and cute! The red skirt is stunning!
Good luck!
