There's an English toffee to the left of my chair, and a thick Birch tree to the right of my window.
I have been squinting my eyes, trying to convince my head that the bent branches are giving birth to buds and baby flowers. Sadly, April has not yet brought any movement into our wild gardens.
But I keep looking...And looking....And looking.... One of these days, the sun will kiss the perennials and vine, turning seeds into fodder for the bumble bees and the wood nymphs.
Until that day, when the open sky feeds the hungry dogwoods and beaches, I will pass the time breaking shells of Cadbury Mini eggs with my teeth. Have you ever noticed how the blue ones look just like a Robin's egg?
The month of April has been built by sleepless nights, resulting in 11 am naps, and slow fingers that get nothing done. All I've wanted is to flop bare onto my bed, drained of any thought or worry, and free from being a transportation unit. I am tired and slow like a sloth at the zoo.
I want to be where the blueberries bloom.
Although I've been a bit slow, I am very excited for this weekend!
For the folks who find their feet in Calgary this Saturday (April 14th), It's Jumble Boogie Time!
Jumble Boogie is an event held at Broken City pub from 12-5pm. Here, you'll find vintage collectible finds, local boutiques, designers, and yours truly. I'll be selling pieces from my closet, so come on down and jiggy to live tunes and don't forget to say hi.
